So I'm sitting here watching re-runs of bizarre foods with andrew zimern in attempts to hide from the oppressive heat outside (It's 101 degrees outside. wtf). this man eats EVERYTHING. mad props.

Anyway, all I want to buy is classic, comfortable shoes/clothing lately (with a modern twist, of course). Those rachel comey boots are seriously haunting my dreams. NEED.

Also contemplating the thought of dying the tips of my hair turquoise/seafoam green/aqua. Must hold off until after september, as i'm going to be a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding. Don't want her to go all bridezilla on my ass now.

Took some serious time off bonjour adieu in order to mull over what direction to take this blog in. For a while now, I've found that I've been too lazy and uninspired to post anything remotely interesting. I felt guilty posting shitty filler posts, so I kind of just gave up and decided to take a hiatus.

I still haven't figured out what to do, but I kind of admit that I did miss blogging while I was gone. All I know is that blogging for me is first and foremost a hobby. It should be something that I enjoy doing. It sure as hell should not become a chore.

I think its important to remember to not take ourselves too seriously.

I'm currently in the midst of the much dreaded time known to all college students around the world as finals. Needless to say, I'm stressed out beyond belief. Had to do some drastic things, like cut facebook from my life for a couple weeks (which, in cyberspace is kind of like a millennium, no?). Needless to say, I'm super stressed out at the moment. Stress - the means to procrastinate = more stress.

So what do I do? Cut my hair of course. Call me weird, but I found it extremely therapeutic. My roommate had to confiscate the scissors from me.

Okay, I know this is totally a filler post (as are most of the posts lately), but I have a sneaking suspicion that my SLR is broken. Too scared to take it to the camera shop to confirm this though. Will do after finals to see what the verdict is.

I have a confession to make. I really (and I mean really) hate flats and/or sandals. I especially hate those boho braided gladiator type sandals that they sell everywhere.

It's not that they're not attractive or anything, it's just that they're so damn uncomfortable and the footbeds are so hard/don't provide enough support. Aren't the point of flats supposed to be for strenuous walking and stuff of the sorts? It might be also due to the fact that I'm a serious wimp, but that's besides the point.

As you can imagine, this makes summer dressing ridiculously and unnecessarily difficult. Just possibly solved this dilemma by buying a pair of velour korkease sandals via ebay. They look super orthopedic and super comfortable. Can't wait till I can pair these with denim cutoffs + a fringy something or another and my newly acquired alex wang-ish dropcrotch sweatpants (not all at once though).

I really need to stop buying shoes and put my money to good (better?) use. Like acquiring another fake ID or something.

I must admit, I was a little intimidated by these platform wedges when i first got them in the mail (via ebay). However, they've definitely grown on me, --I can't keep them off my feet! Super comfortable and gives me the height that I don't have.

Decided to wear them to the park the other day and got some weird and slightly petrified stares by a group of little girls picnicking next to us. Whoops.

Took full advantage of the freakishly gorgeous weather (a perfect 70 degrees) by cavorting all around lower manhattan with my good friend Allyson.

Hit up Motorino in the east village after hearing nothing but good things about this little pizzeria.

I kept getting distracted by the mirrored ceiling.

I ordered the much raved about brussel sprouts pizza. The center of my pie was a bit soggy, but overall the pizza was really good. The brussel sprout leaves were light, crispy and salty and paired well with the pancetta. The dough of course was amazing, --soft and chewy.

Allyson ordered the margherita pizza, which was really good as well. Definitely beats your average cornerstore pizzeria.

Ended up doing some sunning in union square. Turns out all of lower Manhattan had the same intentions, --the place was PACKED. Clusters of people all sat around the square enjoying the much-awaited spring weather. Was proposed to by this hansom fellow, who promptly asked me for money afterwards.

Hit up whole foods afterwards, and then went for a bit of shopping around soho. Stopped by LF and bought what could be the most perfect boots ever. Stay tuned.

All in all, a good day.

-Just finished obsessively stalking this vintage fur cape/coat on ebay, which i WON. Definitely one of the most nerve-wracking moments of my life.
-Started interning at stylecaster last week. It's loads of work, but definitely rewarding. Check the news section for articles I've written :)

Back in the city for school. Excited and severely not at the same time. Classes from 8-12 four days quite possibly will result in death.

However, a definite plus would be back to school shopping. Stopped by urban outfitters and picked up some goodies (ie. a bra that faintly resembles Mr. Wang's, as well as a dainty lace crop tank that I bought in a size large). Also stopped by topshop (where I quite literally bumped into Mischa Barton. I'm not even kidding right now, it was pretty embarassing) and picked up these two ridiculously sequined jackets, both for $70 (buy one get one free whatwhatttt). Sequins are slowly taking over my wardrobe.

Major dorm redecorating is in order. Notice the haphazard christmas lights half-falling off my walls: a constant reminder of drab post holiday merriment.

I absolutely cannot stand the cold weather. Seriously, can spring get here already?

I can't wait until the weather gets warmer so I can experiment a bit with my style. Leaning more towards soft, feminine and romantic looks (lace, anybody?) for spring (but not without a bit of an edge).

Excited to experiment with soft and nude colors (oatmeal especially), nature-inspired accessories (OBSESSED with crystal/quartz jewelry at the moment), whimsical touches and parisian stripes.

Happy new year everybody! Went to a couple drugstores last night with futile attempts to get some rolls of film developed from my new fisheye lomo camera I got for christmas. Seriously, has film become THIS obsolete?

Lately for me, comfort trumps all. I've find myself falling for the same pieces over and over again because I feel comfortable and confident in them (or maybe it's just be being lazy). Here's a typical outfit for me lately: leather jacket + fur collar + striped top + jeans.

I got these boots from an sample sale a couple months ago, and have been wearing them to death. Got a HUGE discount for them. Now if I can only get my hands on the pistol booties...

I've also been wearing this fur collar that I've won off ebay with EVERYTHING. Definitely thinking of buying more in different shades.

Yessss. Finally got the YSL ring i've been lusting over for AGES from my dear father for my christmas/birthay gift. After wearing it nonstop for the last couple days, I've gotten more than a couple odd reactions from friends and family

Met up with my friend Sam today for a quick dinner and even quicker photo session. He recently bought a vintage burberry coat for SUPER cheap (I'm still jealous), but it was ~~a bit~~ way too long (think bathrobe). He just got it back from the tailors the other day and now it's super fly.

After walking around campus, we sought refuge at the campus starbucks and just messed around with my camera settings and such.

I'm going to speak in bullet points now because I have lost the little bit of coherency that I had because of finals week.

- My hair is definitely in an awkward stage and I have NO idea what to do with it.
- Seeing Rooney this friday and Passion Pit next month. Fuck yes?
- Yes, I actually carry that huge shiny backpack to class
- I tried eggnog for the first time this week. I thought I liked it at first, but I realized that it got disgusting fast.
- I'm obsessed with these velvet leggings (pictured) from UO. I've worn them three days in a row. Definitely getting my hands on the blue pair.
- It gets dark WAY too soon
- Cobblestones will be the death of me (even in flat shoes)
- Acquired a vintage fur collar from ebay that I am absolutely IN LOVE with. Will show in next post.

Met up with my mother earlier tonight to grab some dinner at the famous Katz's Delicatessen. We were super excited to go because supposedly their pastrami was "the world's best".

For a monday night, the place was actually pretty crowded. I can't imagine what it would be like during the weekend, as its supposedly a major tourist hub.

Verdict: Pastrami sandwich was pretty good, I admit. Super juicy and still hot when served. The corned beef wasn't as good as the pastrami sandwich. Not the best sandwiches I've ever had, and they are a bit pricey even for nyc standards ($15 for a pastrami sandwich???) but it was definitely worth it for the experience :)

I'm infatuated with my newly painted nails. Me and some of my hall mates had a nail-painting party in the hallway the other day (how girly of us), and I opted for this obnoxious violety-purple with a glitter topcoat. Very adolescent/pre-teen, no? I'm kind of obsessed and throughly converted. I don't know if I can ever go for non-glittery nail polish again. I'm thinking of channeling Dorothy's ruby red slippers next.

Kind of in love with this sequined motorcycle jacket that I got a Zara. I've been shopping too much lately. My new motto: "buy it ONLY if you LOVE it". It's been working so far, as I haven't felt guilty about any purchases so far. My checking account, however, is dying at the moment.

So sorry the posts have been kind of slow lately. But heres what's going on lately I guess:

-Been buried with massive amounts of work lately.
-Had the worst day EVER today. Stayed at the library until 4:30 AM, finally fell asleep at 5 back at the dorm only to be awaken at 7:30 by a fire alarm caused by some douchebag who decided to bake cookies in the communal kitchen downstairs. Seriously? Had class at 8:00. UGH.
-Contemplating dying my hair a deep, dark brown. Also definitely growing it out, and maybe perming it so that it becomes semi-wavy.
-Gaining weight. The freshman 15 is coming, I can feel it.
-Sleep DEPRIVED. Going to sleep right after this post. Naptime is now fully integrated into my daily schedule.
-Jealous that I haven't spotted ONE celebrity yet. My suite mate bumped into James Franco this morning and held a conversation with him, another friend accidentally walked onto the scene of Ugly Betty while they were filming, and another saw Obama in his car (just to name a few). Wtf, I have the worst luck ever.

-I've also developed a dependency on red velvet cupcakes. Went to Crumbs the other day on 8th street. AMAZING.

Trekked all the way uptown last tuesday to Barneys on Madison in attempts to see Scott Schuman. Let me tell you, I have never before seen such a concentrated amount of chic people in my life.

Highlights include seeing Anna Dello Russo (SO. FIERCE.) , Simon Dooley, etc etc. I can tell you that I was throughly star-struck. I fangirled soooooooo hard when I finally got the chance to meet Mr. Schuman. I squealed about how much I "loooooveeeeeee" his work and gushed about how much of I fan I was. Kind of embarrassing.

Met up with Mer during the event, but sadly I had to go early. I'm SO regretting that, because after I left, the likes of Garance Dore, Lynn Yaeger and Giovanna Battagglia showed up. So hitting myself for that.

What I wore to the sartorialist book signing yesterday (!!!!!!). More photos on that will be posted up shortly.

You can't really see, but the jeans have some really awesome ribbing detail to them.

And yes, these boots are relatively comfortable for being the 6 inch (?) monsters that they are. Was able to wear them going to and from the event (aka, walking a good amount of blocks to the subway, standing/walking around barneys etc), without changing into flats. Amazing weather today: 73 degrees. Absolutely perfect day to ignore priorities (aka, my ever-growing pile of required reading) and go strolling around the east village.

Wandered onto 10th st and found to our surprise that part of the street was closed down and transformed into an impromptu flea market. Loads of gorgeous stuff was to be found: little old ladies selling their trinkets, young hip fashionistas selling off their designer wares at a ridiculously low prices, etc.

Ended up buying a really gorgeous vintage belt from a vendor that was a vintage boutique owner. He was clearing out his stock and had the most amazing belts out for sale.

Headed over to Pommes Frites afterwards. They have the most perfectly crispy fries, and their sauces are super eclectic and delicious.

Oh, and I picked up a new nailpolish color during my daily kmart run the other day (I have quite literally gone to kmart every. single. day. for the last week). It's like a purple-y blackish gunmetal-ish color. On top of all that, the color was called "chinatown". How could I ever resist?

Sorry for the lack up outfit updates, but truthfully I've been SO lazy when it comes to dressing up lately. I've been wearing the same denim cutoffs EVERYDAY, literally. 8 am classes = apathy. I'll get back into the swing of things soon, hopefully.

Meanwhile, I've been doing a lot of exploring in the city, especially when it comes to restaurants. There are SO many cheap + delicious places to eat around here, its kind of amazing. I thought I would start highlighting some choice places to eat in NYC. Let me know if this should be a regular thing, or if I should just stick to style/fashion haha.

Anyway, I went to a little thai restaurant called Spice (E 10th and 4th ave) today that's located literally a block from my dorm.

So I finally gave in and bought the knox bag that I was talking about a couple posts ago, but in white. I was aiming for black, but I figured that I had SO many black bags already, a white bag wouldn't hurt. It was ridiculously cheap in ebay, so I snatched it up without thinking. Thankfully, I have no regrets :) The leather is supersoft, and the hardware is pretty amazing. It's a little bit heavy, but what leather bag isn't?

Hung out with the awesome Mer from Merkovsky the other day, since we happen to go to the same school and all now. We talked about a whole range of things that only bloggers could talk about (finally! somebody that understands haha). Checked out the barney's warehouse sale together, and decided to get brick oven pizza. I walked out empty handed, but she came out with an awesome pair of ksubi jeans for like, $40. Crazy.

Some low quality pictures that sum up the last couple days. It's been crazy lately (in a good way). However, my sleeping schedule is all out of wack now (waking up at 12 pm and sleeping at 5 am).

Anyway, after a couple days of exploring the city nonstop, I finally got a chance to visit 'wichcraft today :) Founded by Tom Colicchio, the head judge of Bravo's top chef, 'wichcraft features gourmet sandwiches with high quality ingredients.

my lunch today: roasted turkey sandwich with bacon, avocado, onion relish and aioli on ciabatta roll. SO GOOD, especially the onion relish and aioli. Good thing there's a wichcraft 2 blocks away from my dorm, because I'll be craving this all the time now.

So it's four in the morning right now, which is kind of (really) ridiculous. I'm in desperate need of sleep.

But I finally am semi situated into my dorm right now :) My roommates were appalled at the amount of shoes I brought, and seriously thought I had a problem (which I kind of do).

I have yet to tackle the walls...Any ideas for decorations? Posters seem so cliche. I was thinking of adding a huge sticker thing that they sell at UO or Ikea?

Went to eat cheap conveyor belt sushi today, a first for me. When the hostess sat you, all the sushi chefs would cheer in japanese :) The belt moved sooo fast, so it was hard to get a good picture, ahaha.

I've long since given up on saving up for the balenciaga bag. At the moment, I just can't justify spending 1k+ on a bag. The Roan bag, by knox is significantly more in my price range, but still expensive for a broke student ($600).

On the other hand, I'm in dire need of a sturdy, functional everyday bag. And this bag is just so damn sexy. Hm.

To sum it all up, seattle was cool, alaska was beautiful. Both were super COLD (around 50-60 degrees F), which was weird for me cause I'm used to scorching hot augusts.

So even though I brought my slr to vacation with me, I was WAY too lazy to lug it around with me so I just resorted to using my crappy little point-and-shoot camera.

If you're in seattle, definitely check out the underground vintage mall in pioneer square. Though it might be a bit pricier, it's worth checking out as it literally is room after underground room of antiques and random old paraphernalia.

And, Alaska was just...alaska? It was pretty unpopulated, as I expected. Most towns are completely landlocked, and have fewer than 2,000 people living there. As much of a no man's land that it was, I guess it largely contributed to the charm of the state. Seriously, I'll let these pictures speak for themselves.

When the temperature goes over 75 degrees, my brain automatically starts degenerating. In other words, complex dressing becomes impossible for me, which is why I usually resemble a homeless person during the warmer months.

The only way I can compensate for my lack of creative dressing during summer would be footwear.

We decided to go out for a picnic today. We spent all morning packing fruits, making sandwiches, and mixing trailmix when all of a sudden it started to DOWNPOUR.

We decided to go anyway.

Summer is definitely the season of effortless style. I literally just throw on whatever I feel like wearing at the time. At this particular moment, I decided to go with an obnoxiously bright crop top, denim cutoffs, newly studded converse and madwoman hair.

Wore this particular outfit to go thrifting yesterday and then watch indie movies about communist Romania with friends afterwards. Didn't come away with the mens jeans that I wanted, but did stumble upon some pretty AMAZING (yes. caps) finds, namely a pearl-beaded blazer, lace pencil skirt and hardcore harley davidson belt. Mmm.

I took to studding the shoes in front of the television, - very therapeutic. A whole morning of trashy daytime talk shows (of the whose-the-daddy make) and an extremely long marathon of Bones episodes later, I was done. Needless to say, my fingers are SO sore right now. It was so worth it though.

Sorry about not posting in ages! I've been sick since last sunday with what seemed to be the flu (swine?). The school actually quarantined me for a week, and I wasn't allowed to take my finals (fine by me).

I managed to drag myself to graduation on friday with the aid of dayquil. Not a very pleasant experience, but whatever i GRADUATED.

I don't have any recent pictures, so I'll just leave you with this. I went to see a screening of Children of Invention, a film directed by my cousin, this weekend in brooklyn. It was pretty amazing. But yea, back to Brooklyn. I swear, I'm moving straight there after college.

Everytime I wear these boots, people give me odd looks and backhanded comments. It's not unusual for classmates to go "wow...I like your hooker boots a lot. How do you ever walk in them?". I absolutely can not wait until this fall when I can wear whatever the hell I want. Fashion freedom, yessss.

To be more barbeque friendly (wore this to a grad/birthday barbeque), I changed out of the hardcore topshop boots into sandals. Boring, I know, but functionality trumps style in some cases. Overeating, attempts at playing football, and me absolutely owning in the card game "spoons" ensued. I will absolutely kill anyone who gets in between me and that little plastic spoon. I'm serious.

Prom was SO MUCH FUN. It's tuesday, and I can safely say that I'm still thoroughly exhausted by the weekend.

I tried SO hard to spend as little money as possible, getting my shoes/clutch from DSW and my jewelry from target. I can't justify spending a fortune on just one day, even if it's my senior prom.

Being the procrastinator that I am, I left everything to the last two hours. BAD IDEA, especially if you have NO IDEA what your hair/makeup was going to be. I really just went with my gut with both, and I think it turned out alright. However, this left me with absolutely no time to put on nails/eyelashes. Oh well.

Enlisted the help of my bff Sandy to take pictures as we frolicked around a random strip mall. How very quintessential jersey.

We also went thrifting. After five minutes in the store, I had managed to scour a dozen blouses. With the help of Sandy, who has an extremely discerning eye compared to my very lenient one, she was able to help me narrow down the choices to two blouses. I also picked up the most AMAZING dress (well, at least I think so. Sandy thought otherwise) for 6 bucks. Will show in the next post :)
